On arguably the biggest day of racing of the calendar year and with Sir Owen trackside – Go Bloodstock experienced one of our great days on the racetrack with a treble and as Sir Owen reminded the press after the Coolmore win – HEMAN also should have won the first (Placed 2nd).
Homebred 4yo mare QUEEN OF THE BALL kicked off the Go Bloodstock treble with a stunning come from behind win down the Flemington straight giving Damien Oliver a win on his last Derby Day. Hailing from one of Sir Owen’s best families (ex MISS DEBUTANTE) – QUEEN OF THE BALL is a wonderful talent handled expertly by Michael Freedman and what a broodmare she will become.
Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott then delivered in typical Gai fashion with a gutsy all the way win by AMAZONIAN LASS in the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes – booking her place in the Oaks on Thursday. Another graduate of the Go Bloodstock breeding program – our beautiful dark daughter of the late MORE THAN READY will be some broodmare when she retires but can she win a Group 1 first?
The cherry on the top for Go Bloodstock was the final leg of our historic treble with 3yo colt OZZMOSIS dominating the Group 1 Coolmore Sprint cementing his status as the preeminent 3yo sprinter in the country. What a win by Bjorn Baker and Rachel King and what a horse OZZMOSIS will become.
Go Bloodstock will treasure days like these and they will live long in the memory. To many more.
