Well-bred 3yo colt DAWN SERVICE who is owned with good friends Coolmore lived up to his breeding and impressive physique last Saturday when leading all the way under another 10/10 Blake Shinn ride to land the Listed Exford Plate at Flemington for Waterhouse / Bott racing.
This was a good performance made all the trickier by the surprise wet morning in Melbourne as we raced on a deteriorating soft track. DAWN SERVICE handled the wet track and the step up in class marking himself as a live chance for the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas next month. His early speed, acceleration off the bend and toughness to the line won us this stakes race – an important win for a stallion with DAWN SERVICE’s credentials
